Introducing GIWA

Global Infrastructure for Web3 Access

GIWA is an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain built on the OP Stack. Our mission is to break down the barriers of complex and costly web3, creating a blockchain world that’s easy, fun, and accessible for everyone.

What is Layer 2?

Ethereum is secure and decentralized, but it comes with trade-offs: relatively slow transaction speeds and high fees. To solve this problem, a Layer 2 is structured as a separate blockchain built on top of Ethereum, while inheriting Ethereum’s security. Since it processes transactions quickly on its own chain and records only the data and results on Ethereum, it operates faster and at lower cost.

GIWA at a Glance

  • Fast Block Time: GIWA produces blocks every second, delivering near real-time user experiences.

  • EVM Compatible: Deploy your existing Solidity contracts and use familiar developer tools seamlessly.

  • OP Stack-based L2: Powered by the OP Stack, maintained by the Optimism Foundation — enabling flexible upgrades and customization.

Why GIWA?

The Philosophy behind the name – "GIWA"

In Korean traditional architecture, a GIWA (roof tile) may seem small on its own — but when combined with many others, it creates a structure that is strong, scalable, and enduring. In the same way, GIWA aims to become a foundation where countless builders and ideas come together to form a resilient and thriving Web3 ecosystem.

Layer 2 Built for Global Growth

The GIWA chain is an open Layer 2 that belongs to no single entity and is accessible to everyone. Our goal is to become Web3 infrastructure that can be used anywhere in the world.

This vision goes beyond technical implementation — it’s about creating a foundation where more builders and users can scale together. For developers in Korea, GIWA aims to open up broader opportunities, and for the global ecosystem, it strives to be a Layer 2 where everyone can grow together.

Layer 2 By Builders, For Builders

The GIWA chain is a builder-friendly Layer 2.

Because it is fully compatible with Ethereum, you can use your existing Solidity smart contracts and development tools without modification. To support developers, GIWA provides documentation and guides not only in English but also in Korean — a rarity among global services. Thanks to this, developers in Korea can get started with Web3 development easily.

Onboarding is simple, too. With 1-second block times and scalability powered by the OP Stack, you can launch services directly on GIWA without complex servers or infrastructure.

Powered by UPbit

The GIWA chain is a Layer 2 built together with Upbit. It is not just a blockchain — it strives to build an ecosystem with the most trusted digital asset exchange.

Upbit brings years of trading experience and a stable infrastructure. This foundation extends to the GIWA chain, creating an environment where both users and builders can confidently begin their Web3 journey.

As GIWA grows alongside Upbit, it will serve as a bridge that connects more users, data, and liquidity to the broader Web3 ecosystem.
